    Buy the Charlie Chan Collections for the extras

    No matter who is playing Charlie Chan, Warner Oland or Sidney Toler, the movies are excellent. All are black & white so you have to watch then a couple of times to see everything going on. You could watch them for free on YouTube, but it is the extras that come with each disc that really increase the value as you learn a lot about the history of the time. All of these movies are digitally restored though still in black & white. I started buying Vol. 5, then 4, then 3. This is the way to go.

    Great series with Warner Oland...the original screen Chan.

    Love the set. One of the discs doesn't have a picture front cover on it. It makes one squint a bit to see the title. Other than that,I'm satisfied.

    Oland was the best Chan!

    When I was a boy,Charlie Chan movies were common on TV. I wouldn't miss them. But the early films with Warner Oland as Chan were the best. There were quite a few of them made in the early to mid 30's. Eventually Oland stopped making them due to ill health and, I think, died soon after. He was replaced by Sidney Toler who was not as good an actor, and the quality of the films suffered. I bought myself the first three sets of the Warner Oland films, this being the 3rd, for Christmas. The film quality is a bit grainy, but the films are 1st rate.

    Warner Oland is Charlie Chan!

    Warner Oland is the best Charlie Chan there ever was. These old classics are priceless and very entertaining. They just don't make them like that anymore. I have all twelve Oland Chans now and I wish there were more.
