    Well written and not just like anything else you've seen.

    It took me a little while to warm up to this series. There was one character that didn't appeal to me at first and she kept turning back up. However, I changed my mind as time went on and the character became more developed. Since then, I have enjoyed the series very much. I am not finished with it yet but can still highly recommend it. Just give it a chance if you find yourself feeling the way I did at first. It grows on you and you don't want it to end.

    The Popular Series That Preceded Downton Abbey

    This series is so good I have memories of watching it in the 1970's! I haven't gotten around to watching the DVD's yet, but to have gently used DVD's of the entire series is wonderful. The cardboard box is frayed, but the DVD boxes are fine.

    Nostalgic step back in time.

    This series was all the rage when it debuted on TV in 1971. You must remember this as the production was of its time - excellent and theatrical with classic British actors. The series is definitely worth a trip down memory lane.

    GREAT ENTERTAINMENT!!!

    Upstairs/Downstairs set the foundation for Downtown Abbey which in my view was awesome. Upstairs/Downstairs starts a little slow & in a few episodes shown in black & white, but then, the sparks get heated! This DVD surpassed my expectations!!!!

    British life in 1900's: Two viewpoints

    I enjoy this series. And I like the UK. It is informative. Most people do not know about WW1. I like history and this is an enjoyable look at history. It gives you three points of view as regards the lives of people who become servants.
