    Early not-so-classic John Wayne

    If you like western movies, and more specifically John Wayne westerns, this is a must-see. It is somewhat unusual in that it covers less well-known historical events, but that was actually the reason I wished to watch it. It is not completely accurate but still extremely interesting in presenting both sides of the pre-Civil War conflict in Bleeding Kansas. Wayne and Claire Trevor handle their parts well, Roy Rogers is also good in one of his first film roles, but Walter Pidgeon as usual impresses as the villain you can't help liking. In modern terms, this movie might be considered to be somewhat hokey, but it is entertaining throughout.
