Stiff, but does a great job!
It works great. It's quite stiff. I started using a good quality friction type hand gun. There wasn't enough gripping power to reliably force the material out of the tube. I switched to a cheapo. ratchet type gun. It worked well enough. But the force required to get the stuff out of the tube, distorted the nozzle end of the gun. As for the material itself, It lays a good bead and really gets a good grab on the windshield.It works great. It's quite stiff. I started using a good quality friction type hand gun. Too stiff to come out of the gun. I read a review on the site and another guy warmed it up and warming it in a toaster oven worked enough for me to use it. Still very hard to get out of the gun. I have used U-428 before and know that it should come out of the gun like normal caulking and not be stiff. It was still usable but required more work to make it look good. I think that it was still a good bond. I am in fl and the temp was 81 degrees so it wasn't too cold. Good price and I cannot complain too much since I did get it to work but if you plan to store it I doubt if it will last long. Good luck. Be sure to use rubber or latex gloves as it is very hard to get off the skin. Good Luck.Too stiff to come out of the gun. Worked great and got a clean install
Product worked flawlessly. Make sure that the tube is at room temperature. Use the end of a spout to poke open the threaded end as wide as possible for product to flow easier. There are markings to show where and how to cut notch in spout. Follow these marks and it will help you lay down a nice ridged bead to seat the windshield on for best adhesion.I used a cordless caulk gun but could have done it with a quality manual caulk gun with just a little more effort. Product is thick enough to build a good thick bed for glass to rest and form a good seal. BTW this was my first time installing a windshield and no problems.Product worked flawlessly. DOW U-428+ is a great auto glass urethane
I used this stuff to replace the windshield on my 1999 BMW M3. One tube is all I needed, and it was quick and easy to use. I love the fact that it's primerless and has a very high tensile strength. The product comes out easy enough to use a regular hand-pump caulking gun, however I would recommend heating the tube to about 120 deg. F before opening it. The bead was very tacky and does not collapse or fall out of shape. I would recommend this to anyone who needs to place their windshield!I used this stuff to replace the windshield on my 1999 BMW M3.
