I have owned many Zuikos and lenses from many other makers. Since I'm particularly interested in wide angles, I have tried every single model of the range in the Zuiko line, from the elusive 18mm to the unexpensive 35/2.8. Both 24mm's in the Zuiko line are real GEMS. The smaller 24mm f/2.8 is indeed a very good performer, but this fast version is even better -- even better, in my experience, than the 21mm F2, a masterwork in itself and great performer. Another great point of Zuiko 24's is their really wide angle of wide -- somewhat wider than other 24's, which in turn are really closer to 25 or even 26mm. Regarding size and weight, the classic advantage of Zuikos, this is the largest and heaviest of the fast-wides, but by a small margin -- still compact for its class. As already said, picture quality is outstanding all the way, either wide-open or stopped down, at the centre or extreme corners, or even with strong backlighting -- nothing to do with, say, the 35/2 (the poorest of Zuiko wides). Highly recommended if you can spend the cash, but should you can manage with f/2.8, the smaller brother will provide equally good pictures.Read full review
At f/2 on 5D better than EF-24/2.8 at f/2.8. Very compact and light compared to modern AF lenses. Build quality and coating are superb.
