The combination of Elliot and Selleck together, again, makes westerns that more enjoyable. Thank you. Fast shipping and thorough packaging.

The story teaches a lesson in the importance of family and getting along with one another.

It's because two of the finest actors in the business did an excellent portrayal of being true brother that were reunioned after the Civil War and didn't let the war make them enemies. Families were probably the same way mostly. Some were not. It was a sad history. This story has the good and the bad like all wars.

    • Top critical review

Lightweight with a very predictable ending.

What worked for me in this story is that it is conceivable to have two family members fighting opposite sides of the American Civil War because one family member might have migrated to the north or south and adopted the respective ideology on life. Thus; opposing views. What did not work is the storyline. There was never any Rebel Renegade fighters kidnapping men, women, and children to sell to Mexicans following the close of the Civil War. The kidnappers taking their victims across the Gulf on a slave ship to get to Mexico, but Tom Selleck's character and his rescue crew only had to cross the Rio Grande on horseback to get there. The slave ship thing was a mimic to the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade and should have never been in the storyline.

    • Good entertainment on a budget.

This is a fun movie. It was a made-for-television movie in the early 80's so the production isn't as grand as a bigger budget film but the story is engaging and the acting is decent. It's a solid movie compared to other made-for-tv movies of the time. I recommend it if you can find it under $10.00 like I did.

    • Good period piece, movie

I enjoyed both of these leading actors. Have always liked Sam Elliott in westerns and Tom Selleck from TV.

    • Bought it as a replacement

This DVD was a replacement for the VHS tape version I had before. It's a good story, and great characters, but it appears to be slightly out of focus and not as sharp as the previous version. Still very viewable.
