These microphones sound fantastic! To my ears, perhaps even better than the ones from Berlin. The pad and pattern switches are very useful, and the clarity on and off axis is excellent. The shock mounts are functional, if a bit cheap. The only mentionable drawback is the case, which is downright embarrassing. It's like carrying around your Taylor in a cardboard box. Throw it away and get yourself a nice paper bag instead.
The Beyerdynamic MC930 mics are just amazing. I've been professionally recording since 1969 so I've used the best of the best. The first acoustic recording I heard that was made with the MC930 literally had me stop in my tracks and say WOW, that sounds sooooo good. I bought two MC930's right away. Since then I've sold of my four beloved vintage AKG C451E's and E/B's, along with a pair of my Neumann KM184's and bought four more MC930's - yeah they are truly amazing!!! These things sound great on anything, have nice pad and roll off switches, and have a remarkably hot output. Best of all, they are incredibly affordable for such a high quality German made microphone. Get a couple, you won't be disappointed.
