tldr breakdown: Graphics: 7/10 Sound/Music: 6/10 Gameplay: 7/10 Storyline: 8/10 Customer Support: 0/10 Graphics: Graphics looked great, but there was minor clipping and sometimes your cape goes through your back etc. Sound/Music: While not memorable, nothing seemed out of place. Voice acting was pretty good as well. Gameplay: Great job here, actions have consequences, and not always what you'd think they were. Unfortionatly, you still seem pressured to do the violent solution to problems because you get more exp that way. Storyline: They did a good job on the storyline, a few twists and turns, but not much you probably won't see coming a mile away. Your allies have some sidequests you can pursue to get to know them better, but they never really seem to mature. They have the same dialogue from act1 right up to the end which gets annoying. Customer Support: Why did I toss this in here? Because the customer support is so horrid I don't think anyone likes it. Most people just get a form letter of "we got your inquiry, we'll get back to you soon" but aren't gotten back to. In the offcase they do get to you, they rarely have any help for you. The updater is extremely buggy, but luckily the fan community came together on this one, and you can get all the patches from the community website. Buy/Rent/Leave Alone? Well, if you've got the patience to solve any problems you get alone/with the other players, it's a great game. If not, I'd stay far away from it.Read full review
Okay, I love this series all the way back to the AOL days. NWN2 does not disappoint. There are a few technical points I am disappointed in, namely the toolset -- which I have not been able to get to work as of yet. Also there are SO many patches if you plan to play the game once you aquire it right away you will be disappointed. I have broadband and it still took the better part of four hours to download and update all the patches. Gameplay is rather intuituve and the tutorial is much more entertaining and well written than many similar games. It runs very close to the D&D 3.5 rule set and very clearly states in the documentation where it does not. Tabletop RPG and Computer based RPG do not always translate well into each other. The packaging was basic and functional, I believe this game was just a bit ahead of its time as far as hardware requirements, most of the old reviews I read stated as such, now my mid-grade system seems to run it at its higher graphic/gameplay settings with no problem. I recommend this game to fans of the NWN series and also to any D&D gamer. You get a very good feel of the semi-defunct 3.5 game rule system, the character interation is decent and the graphics are very good. In summary, lots of techinical issues may hurt the enjoyment of the game early on, don't get in the evening and then plan to play it before bedtime and since I can not get the toolset to function I really can't comment on it yet other than it obviously takes some file manipulation to get started. The techical issues are what keep me from rating this game any higher and my bias for the series probably give it more credit than it is really due.Read full review
