I'm sure that you can find a more expensive VTF scale, but I doubt that it would be any more accurate than the Riverstone Audio. Previously I was using a nearly 45 year old VTF balance scale that came packaged with the original ARxa Turntable. What I found is that the fulcrum point on the AR balance scale has too much friction to get a truly accurate and consistent VTF on my Eminent Technology ET2 tonearm. The RIverstone gives consistent readings and seems to be well made and is fairly simple to set up.

The tool comes in a well designed, good-looking package with a protective metal can. Just add a battery and you are ready to use it. I didn't have to bother to read the instructions for use, just put it on the turntable and used it.

I received my Riverstone Audio Precision stylus tracking gauge and, after a few minutes of reading the straightforward instructions, was able to put it to use. While I didn't have an alternate to compare its accuracy to, I found that after using it that the sonics were noticeably improved. A very nice product at an excellent price. While the product has " Record Level" in the name I didn't see a way to use it to determine if the turntable itself was "level". But to adjust VTF it worked excellently.

This has to be the best tracking force scale ever. It is so accurate and measures the stylus pressure down at record level, especially when directly placed on the mat. Do yourself a favor and get yourself one. I am sure you will never regret it!

Very easy to setup, very accurate. like the fact that the measurements are taken at the height of where the record thickness is. works well.
