The FZ7 is very good. Lightweight, easy to use controls, an amazing lens with Mega O.I.S and 12x zoom. All this makes the Lumix an excellent all-round camera.

This is a 6mp camera that has been replaced by a similar model which has a larger number of pixels. In fact 6mp gives good definition at quite large sizes and the camera takes really clear and sharp pictures. It has a very good 12x zoom lens that would be dreadfully long and heavy on a conventional film camera. The image stabiliser works well. There is, however, one feature I hate. The manual focus on Panasonic cameras used to be by a ring on the lens, which was fine. On this, manual focus is by a tiny lever on the back of the camera - a fiddly system that doesn't really work. Luckily, the auto focus is efficient. The camera is fairly small and light and generally works very well. However it only takes 2 gigabyte SD cards - and you have to be sure they are good quality, fast ones because otherwise the camera will sulk, refuse to take moving pictures and sometimes even seize up when taking stills. The battery lasts a good length of time, and generic replacements are freely available and quite cheap. There is a delay sometimes when you use the flash, which can be a nuisance when you are trying to take pictures in a fluid situation - ie, by the time the thing fires, the subject has moved. But on the whole, this camera takes better pictures than my old Nikon film camera - and it is much lighter and easier to cart around. These cameras cost around £70 secondhand in good condition and are a worthwhile alternative to buying a new camera of the same price.Read full review
This was a great purchase, the camera is very light and fairly small, but has the look of an SLR digital, it takes great shots in a variety of formats, the zoom feature is fantastic, the settings are easy to follow and the menu set out is very simple to use, it has the point and shoot usability with all the touch of professional finish if you want to get involved,and the best thing of all is it still has street cred of top of the market SLRs,this model is now within the reach of everyone that wants quality on a buget, Ebay is always awash with these cameras and all the accessories you will ever need at bargain prices, but try to buy one that has the battery and charger and a proven record if you can because you will want to get out and use it straight away.
For a old camera it still takes great pics and I didn't mind the children using it being a older camera love it
