Product Information

A victim of her father's debt, 'Little Dorrit' has spent her childhood behind the heavy, iron doors of Marshalsea Prison. But will a chance meeting change her life? Andrew Davies' gripping new series brings to life DickensÆ classic tale of hardship and struggle in 1820s London, where larger-than-life characters leap from rags to riches (and back again), and fortunes can be reversed in an instant.

Returning home after many years abroad, Arthur Clennam is surprised by the mysterious presence of Amy Dorrit, a young seamstress, in his mother's house. Troubled by the Dorrits' plight, and suspecting his own family's involvement in their downfall, he resolves to help them. Delving into the puzzling connections between the two families, Arthur entangles himself in a mystery that transcends the walls of Marshalsea to include an epic scope, and a personal resonance, that makes this tale one of the most exhilarating and stirring in history. And as the truth unfolds, Arthur discovers that the shadow of debt can fall in the most unlikely of placesà

Unfortunately my parcel was originally delivered to the wrong house (entirely Royal Mail's fault) but seller quickly responded and sent a replacement out without hesitation. Replacement item arrived quickly, good price, as described, would use seller again, thanks.

Item arrived perfect. And is very good condition both packing and item. Decent value and good appearance. I was a little dissatisfied with how long the item took to arrive. And no communication from the seller until I messaged asking what the issue was. Would have been nice if they just dropped a message saying they had issues and it would be delayed. But still happy with the item and will use them again.

Excellent adaptation of a excellent Dickens' story.

I am a Dickens reader. But I often find his stories present information in a rather confusing order and often struggle to see how they are related to the main story. This BBC video set ( from the TV series ) puts all this right. The actors are all well cast as main characters in the story, the sets are good and the storyline has been slightly re-ordered to make the plot much easier to follow. Read the book , it is one of Dickens' better stories IMO , but also see the BBC version which makes it all so much better

  • Excellent will buy other titles by Dickens

Just brilliant. Will watch over and over again. It is so refreshing to see and hear a Dvd that has no gutter language.

  • The best dramatisation of this amazing story ever!

Little Dorrit - a classic Dickensian tale of wicked treachery and vile satanic cruelty – is the book that propelled the abolition of ‘debtors prisons’. Full of colloquialisms now deeply rooted in common parlance - such as ‘feint heart never won fair maid’; ‘what’s love got to do with it’; ‘fortune favours the brave’ and many more - this riveting dramatisation of Dickens amazing gut-wrenching story pulls you right in from the onset. Have a box of tissues on hand – a handkerchief doesn’t cut it.

  • Little delight

Excellent Dickensian drama with an all star cast, superb production and great acting. Also some very nice location work in Italy half way through , which makes a refreshing change of the drab London setting. A clever and powerful story.
