Just installed air conditioning and wanted to be able to switch it on or off when away from the home. This device does that job perfectly ... so good in fact that it made me wonder how well it would work with all the other remote controlled devices in the home. Suffice to say that after a short learning time I was able to set it all up and it works a treat. I can now control everything from my smart phone. Highly recommended unit.

I got the RM2 Pro so that I could control all my multimedia equipment from my new phone, given that my phone's manufacturer had thoughtfully declined to include an IR blaster... (Yes, Samsung, I'm talking about you.) I plugged in the mains transformer, and plugged the transformer's cable into the RM2 Pro. To get this to work, you have to install Broadlink's app and connect to it and tell it how to connect to your Wi-Fi router. I was a bit wary, since Broadlink's app could easily be stealing your Wi-Fi password... There's no way to know.... At the time, my phone was a new model, and its Wi-Fi was a bit buggy, and kept reconnecting, making it next to impossible to set up the RM2 Pro without connecting directly to the RM2 Pro and telling it how to connect to my Wi-Fi router. Once the phone's Wi-Fi issues had been sorted out, doing this step through the router was easy. Once connected to the RM2 Pro, you next have to set up your equipment. The Android app has a 'scan' feature, but it didn't work for me. However, it is possible to search for your equipment by model code, and I readily found what I was looking for... However, the 'stock' remote user-interfaces(UI) that Broadlink provides are quite generic, or are simply custom remote UIs that other users have uploaded - in various languages and of varying quality - and the generic UIs are not easily customised, providing only a few assignable buttons for the most commonly used features of the device, and putting a few more assignable buttons in a pop-up form. It is possible to create a 'custom' remote, which allows the creation of a user-interface (UI) with user-defined buttons, but there are two options for this, and one creates a 'sorted' remote, where the buttons are all arranged in rows, while the other allows free placement of the buttons. However, the buttons/button groups available in the 'stock' user-interfaces are not available for use in the custom remote, and the stock custom buttons are round and fairly large, and do not allow optimal placement on the screen without overlapping, and unless you provide your own button images - with the associated difficulties in keeping a common visual style - the pre-loaded catalog of button images is a little lacking. So, you can either have a pretty but generic-looking and feeling UI without all the deeper features of the original remote, or you can expend a lot of effort creating then recording all the buttons for a custom remote, with the proviso that it probably won't look nearly as pretty given that each stock button occupies a considerable amount of screen real-estate, and it's difficult to cram them all onto the one screen. There are supposedly other Android applications other than Broadlink's that claim to be able to connect to a RM2 Pro device, but the one I found (SURE) was unable to connect to it at all, so I can't say if it would be any better even if it could connect. As to the RM2 Pro itself, it had no trouble putting out enough IR to control my equipment in a large room, but the device itself is designed for coffee-table or tabletop use, and when you have young, curious, fiddle-fingered kids, it is too easily unplugged or chewed. It lacks screw keyholes for mounting it onto a vertical or inverted surface, and it was a bit heavy for double-sided sticky-tape or even regular sticky tape to stick it to the slightly curved top of its relatively small wall-wart transformer and have it stay put when the whole assembly is plugged into a downward-facing power-point on the ceiling - the RM2's weight pulls the tape loose after an hour or so. I'm going to try proper high-strength double-sided tape designed for attaching hooks to walls next, and if that fails too, I'll use a flexible contact adhesive like Kwik-Grip that will come off with a bit of effort.Read full review

it easy enough to set up . thought there are a few issues with it i had to set things up as a light instead of a sound bar or a tv so im only able to turn these things on or off not up or down . also the range is not very good it has to be right in front of the tv and i cant use it to turn the radio on in the next room even though my home is open plan (no doors)

I had an older version of this product that just seemed a little clunky and did not work properly. This version is PERFECT and does almost everything that I need. It has hooked up nicely to my Google Home and has allowed me to program all my remote devices so I can operate it with Google. Very happy with this purchase.
