This camera has many modes of operation. However, it's intelligent enough to automatically picks the correct settings for each photo when using the automatic mode. The advice on the Canon web site is very useful and easy to learn. I did have an IXUS 800 before it was stollen and I was extremely impressed with it. That's why I stayed with Canon Ixus. Clipping/trimming is very easy and, with 14.1 Mp to play with, quality is not compromised. Easily connects to a computer or tv. There are also a couple of effects i.e. fish-eye and miniture. There is also a categories filter (among others) which makes customised slide shows a cinch. ADVICE: This is a very small camera so slipping the wrist strap on whilst in use may help prevent damage due to dropping etc. The only down-side is that it's very small and virtually frictionless so heed advise. CANON: a rubber or more tactile surface would help.Read full review
I bought this camera to replace the Canon Ixus 130 which I dropped in the snow with fatal results. I love its slim, neat shape which slides easily into a small pocket in my handbag. It takes brilliant pictures, even in low light levels, and is simple to operate. It has a lot of features which I have never got around to using, which is why I only gave it 3 for features - I don't know how good they are. My only niggle is that the software that comes with it is not so easy to use as the Olympus software I had previously. (I am a dinosaur when it comes to electronic manipulation and storage).
Great camera! I love the fish eye setting and all the other colour features. Great quality photos! I love how light it is and i love how easy it is to use. I would criticise the zoom button as its really tiny and hard to get used to, but its definitely a great camera all the same!
Before buying a camera I went to a few stores to have a feel of what is on offer and how it lies in my hands. Soon enough, I found this compact Canon and liked it for a number of reasons. First of all, it looks nice and sleek. No useless bumps and parts sticking out, but a perfectly flat front and back. Moreover, all the corners are rounded which means that it fits nicely in even the tightest pockets, without poking me. It has a rechargeable battery so is greener than those requiring regular ones, and I cannot complain about its capacity - even if the camera sits on the shelf for weeks, I can always just pick it up and it has never happened that there was no power left. I am an occasional camera user and what I like about the picture settings is that those I change are easily accessible, e.g. the flash on/off/auto button. All the rest has been set once and I don't fiddle with it as pictures come nice and clear, whether taken in or outdoors. The camera may not be cheap but for me it was worth every penny.Read full review
I have had later versions of this camera, which have been over-complicated. I am glad I found this one in new condition. Having soft round corners, it is the easiest of all the IXUS range to slip in your pocket as a backup or occasional camera and for its size and specification, the results are amazing. Any down-side, no not really although the on-off button is a tad fiddly but you soon get used to it.
