I bought this collection of films to see, not only Peter Sellers in his earlier films, but also those perhaps forgotten, but hysterically funny comedic geniuses such as Terry Thomas, Ian Carmichael, The Boulting Brothers, and even the likes of Richard Attenborough, with whom comedy is not normally associated, lead the way towards the kind of "anti-establishment comedy" later taken-up with such gusto by the likes of The Monty Python group and the Saturday Night Live and Second City comedians...Some of these films are very "British," in that certain terms used in the 50's and early 60's were simply not used in the US...so some of the humor can still fly right over my head...but not so much as before...In my opinion, the best movie of the group, "I'm All Right, Jack" is simply a masterpiece of howling comedy...These films, in my view, "started" the happy "invasion" of British humor into US acceptance and made us begin to see how Right it is to laugh at Ourselves! Some movies are better than others, but they are all wonderful...AND, I personally NEEDED all of them to refine my appreciation and understanding of, true British and modern humor...Many of these films are more readily understood in light of what later developed from them...I would happily recommend this group of DVDs to ANYONE with a sense of humor!!!Read full review
