Out of the box, the channel one Range button of the Ashly CQX-3102 didn't work very well. However, after a few attempts was able to get it into the proper position. Now works very well. Considering the price, not a real problem.

I picked this up to try out in my home stereo. At first I thought it was a great success but later, when I turned up the volume, the speakers would make popping noises when there were loud transients. This was in between the preamp and power amp. When I installed it in between a DAC and the preamp it intermittently produced some crackling noises in the speakers. When it was working properly the sound quality was clean and this equalizer was very quiet. Any noise that it did produce was not noticeable. It was much quieter than I expected. IMHO this is an extremely good equalizer, but in my experience it is not suited to a home stereo system. Update: This is untested but I understand that Radial Engineering's "J-Iso" and "J+4" devices (both needed) will enable this equalizer to be used in a home system. Similar devices should also work. Just the thing for the sound system at the church. 10 segment level display is very useful, as is the adjustable high pass filter for stopping low frequency garbage from overloading the LF amps and subwoofers. Sounds good, 1/3 octave bands of EQ very useful.
