Current slide {CURRENT_SLIDE} of {TOTAL_SLIDES}- Best Selling in Ham Radio Receivers
This is radio I have after for a while. It looks and works great. It receives all short wave frequencies and with the proper antenna who knows. If you love short wave, this radio or a newer model will work excellently. Trust Kenwood for quality electronic equipment. We did some bartering, which I feel is a better way to go. Thanks and I will enjoy listening to it.

I had always heard that Kenwood was, in its day a good receiver, and given its age, it does a fair job, but I've had Radio Shack units that worked better. Considering it is nearly 40 yrs. old, all the switches and VATs work well. Regarding the "Tell US More" section, I wish there was a MEH choice between Yes or No, because I would have chose that instead of No.

I really like this High Frequency communications receiver. If you can find one grab it. It can be used portable with an optional 12 volt dc power cord. I can be used portable with an optional 12 volt dc power cord. It is very versatile with many antenna options. One can just use lightweight 500 ohm speaker wire for an antenna works well. All well as a dipole, long wire, and even a cb radio antenna will work.

The kenwood R1000 is an excellent receiver, however the one that I received had some problems. It too bad that people that sell these items have no means of checking them before posting.

Not the best shortwave receiver due to older analogue/bandspread readout which is an estimate at best. The R-300's strength is the fact that sensitivity below 2 MHz isn't reduced like on most HF receivers. Uses D cells so can be used during power outages or in the field. Stock filters are poor quality, with upgraded filters this is a good receiver.
