TCS WOW Sound Decoders are my favorite DCC sound decoders
I really like the TCS WOW sound decoders. Audio assist works well to adjust volume, chuff rate and other features. Motor control is very good for slow speed operation.

Best DCC Steam Sound decoder that I have bought so far!
I've tried 3 different top of the line DCC steam sound decoders so far. For my money, the TCS DCC 1517 WOW STEAM Sound Decoder Ver. 4 with KA3 KEEP ALIVE, is the best sound decoder that I own. It is no more difficult to install than any DCC decoder. It also has the most rich and vibrant true-to-life sounds that I've heard from any of the steam sound decoders on the market so far. Better even, than the once much vanted PBL Foreground Sound System that disappeared many years ago. But it was NOT a DCC system! The TCS WOW-SOUND unit has soooooo many automated sound sequences for steam locomotive movement. Automated sound sequences that other decoders only provide button and CV controls for. The "Audio Assist" is BRILLIANT!!!. It is the the easiest decoder to program to your tastes BAR NONE!!! ... I've tried 3 different top of the line DCC steam sound decoders so far. Great sound, perfect control
I installed this decoder w/capacitor into a Bachmann 2-10-2. I installed two 28mm speakers in the tender, including baffles. The sound quality is terrific, unlike anything else I've heard from an HO scale steam engine. The motor control is excellent. I timed my engine in speed step 1, and was able to get it to creep along a 9-inch section of track in 6.5 minutes, without stutter or any hesitation. That's 0.25 scale miles per hour! Removing the locomotive from the track, the air compressor sound (no lights, no wheels turning) sounded for another ~20 seconds. Great sound, fantastic motor control, reliable performance. Very pleased - a great sound decoder
Awesome sound. Comes with a current keeper. Super easy to configure and "set CVs" using the on-board Voice Assist feature. Excellent engine control, too. A more cost effective option to the Tsunami2 brand.

The TCS WOW Steam decoder has the best sound of any I have used over a 20 year experience of installs. The depth of the chuff and the awesome selection of whistles programmed in are fantastic. There are also many tutorial installation videos on their website for those that need some guidance.
