Classic Albums Lovingly Performed
This is a good watch and showcases Journey as they were in February 2017 performing both of their best selling genre defining albums Escape and Frontiers (almost) in their entirety. For the completist the track Troubled Child from Frontiers,although performed on this 2nd night @ The Budokan on February 7th is not included here on either the audio or video. Arnel Pineda does a good job of adding his own stamp to the majority of these classic tunes. However it is clear that he does not have the full on vocal fortitude that Steve Perry had in his prime. Such is evidenced by the fact that there are 3 tracks sung in their entirety by Travis Thibodeaux; the backup keyboard/background vocalist that Journey now have in their touring line up. Steve Smith is a revelation on drums. Such subtlety ...
