The Cisco 1721 furthermore supports several WICs. With this router, security is supported by a software-based IOS stateful inspection firewall, as well as an intrusion detection system (IDS) that keeps data private. The symmetrical DSL featured on this Cisco router fully supports the type of advanced routing needs a business requires when they access the Internet. With this type of DSL, quality of service (QoS) as well as performance levels for applications and voice and data integration are of the highest quality.

    Cisco 1721 Router

    The router arrived very quickly. It arrived nicely packed and I could tell it practically brand new and very well taken of. The router works very well. I had to reset the configuration but that was expected. I needed this router for a class that I am getting ready to attend. The only minor things was that there was no console cable with the router. (I have one, so no big deal there) Also, while the power adapter was enclosed, it was missing the power cord plugin to the wall. (Again, no big deal because I have one) I personally would have sent at least a printout of the current configuration to make it easy to enter the set password and change the password but again no obstacle because I was able to readily find the instructions on how to do so on the Cisco website.     Good VPN router

    The Cisco 1721 router is an excellent, cheap alternative to more expensive Cisco routers if you only need a VPN endpoint or a simple, secure and robust firewall. It can be upgraded to a very fast IPSEC VPN router for less than $100 for ram and the VPN module. Dont pay over $300 for the 1721 itself and no more than $100 for the ram and VPN module. Configuring the 1721 is the same as most other cisco routers using IOS as their is no web gui which may be a detractor to some but I find this method quicker.

    Great CCNA LAB Router.

    Great router for anyone looking to get CCNA certified. With 2 WIC slots you can either go with 2 WIC 1T's for 2 total serial connections or 2 WIC 2T's for 4 total smart serial connections. I have about 3 other 1721's all upgraded to 128MB RAM running that latest IOS and I have yet to run into any walls using them to get my CCNA. This router is a great lab router.

    Great product, awesome for a CCENT/CCNA lab

    This product is very afforable, its' cheap, and it comes with a decent amount of DRAM and flash. It is a great addition to your CCENT/CCNA/CCNP lab environment. The router boots up decently, just as good as my 2610xm and 2650xm's. The only different is it does only have an ethernet port and two spots for a WIC-1T or anything else you want to install. I highly recommend this product.
