This worked out great for me. be careful to orient the cable correctly (backwards is not the way), and note that if the connector retention snaps break (as mine did) you can shim / retain the cable into the connector to hold it fast. I used thick paper (such as a greeting card has). best of luck! note this expense is much less than the over $200 for new unit. Long Live Meade telescopes!

This display is compatible with the Meade Autostar 497 controller, a telescope controller in which many of the displays are failing due to age. This display is for the 24-pin connector version of the controller, not the newer 14-pin version. It will produce inverse video (black lettering on red background) after you peel off the reflector on the back of the display (slowly peel straight back without lifting up). Controller works great again!

I bought this item on 4/22/24 for $15.29, with free shipping. On 4/27/24, I received a notice that the seller had cancelled my order due to "something wrong with buyers shipping address." The seller never reached out to me and I have items delivered to my address all the time. I checked the sellers listings and found out that they are now selling this item for $19.81, with free shipping. The fact that the seller never reached out to me, and jacked up the price by $4.50, I purchased from another.
