Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing of this classic album from the influential band who single-handidly pioneered Americana, roots rock, country rock and heartland rock. Released in 1977, Islands was the last new full length release featuring all five original members of The Band. Primarily composed of previously unreleased songs from The Band's career (including their 1976 cover of "Georgia on My Mind", which was recorded to aid Jimmy Carter in his presidential bid), Islands was released to fulfill the group's contract with Capitol Records, so that the soundtrack to their film The Last Waltz could be released on Warner Bros. Records.

    Quality issue/ticks and pops

    This is a great album but I can't recommend this pressing. It's the second album I've purchased that was pressed by GZM from the Czech Republic, the other being Supertramp's Crime of the Century. As with the Supertramp album, the first thing I noticed taking the album out of the sleeve is dust, debris and even a hair on this album Both albums are riddled with ticks and pops even after washing with a brand name record cleaner several times. I googled and discovered I'm not the only person who's complained about this issue. I won't be buying any albums pressed by GZM in the future. I don't mind my own ticks and pops from regular wear and tear but don't expect to have my brand new albums sounding like they're pre-used right off the bat. In future, I'll be checking the catalogue number of ...
