About this product

Product Information

Upgrade your personal or work computer to a dual-core processor with the Intel Core 2 Duo E6600. Based on the innovative Intel Core 65nm architecture, the Core 2 Duo microprocessor features two independent processing cores at a clock speed of 2.4 GHz, with the ability to overclock the speed and improve performance. The processor allocates different programs to separate cores, allowing you to watch high-definition videos or browse the web while running virus scans or downloads in the background. The Core 2 Duo processor was designed to meet the demands of a normal desktop user. With its dual-core design, you experience less lag and slowdown during any number of normal operations. The Intel E6600 is a capable mid-range microprocessor that gives your aging motherboard a second life.Compared to previous generations of chips, the Intel Core 2 Duo features a number of hardware specifications and improvements to the processor's architecture. The Core 2 Duo E6600 has 4MB of L2 cache, which is the part of the microprocessor that stores the most frequently accessed data on the CPU. This is twice as large as the L2 cache on the E6300 and E6400 processors in the same family. It also features a 1066 MHz front-side bus (FSB), which carries data between the CPU and the memory controller hub. That means swifter speeds for you as the user. The Core 2 Duo E6600 microprocessor operates on a 64-bit instruction set, but it's also binary compatible with its 32-bit software. Virtualization technology allows you to run a virtual machine, which is essentially a second system, on one physical computer. Use the virtual machine for testing, tinkering, and tweaking while leaving your regular system untouched. The Core 2 Duo E6600 has an LGA 775 socket, so it is compatible with a wide array of different motherboards. The Core 2 Duo microprocessor was designed to take advantage of a number of innovative Intel features that optimize the performance of your CPU. For example, with the Intel Thermal Monitoring technology, the microprocessor dynamically responds to small changes in the processor's temperature. Even when you're running several different CPU-intensive programs simultaneously, the microprocessor always keeps the temperature of the CPU stable. The Intel SpeedStep technology allows the computer to dynamically adjust the processor's voltage and core frequency to meet the demands of the software. The Intel Wide Dynamic Execution technology allows four parallel instructions to be executed at the same time, increasing the efficiency of each core. The Intel Execute Disable Bit-tech reduces your computer's exposure to harmful viruses and malicious codes. Last, but not least, the Intel Idle States technology saves energy and keeps the temperature down by putting the processor into an idle state when it's not under a heavy burden. The Core 2 Duo E6600 microprocessor has a thermal design power (TDP) of 65 watts. This is the average power that the microprocessor dissipates when operating at its base frequency with every core active. Install the Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 and experience great energy efficiency and quality performance with incredible parallel computing within its 2.4 GHz dual-core.

Upgrading the HP Medismart Server ex495

Installed the core 2 e6600 to improve performance on the HP Ex495 Mediasmart server. So far very pleased with the increased performance. All operations are fast and precise, Well worth the time and effort + plus these processors used are very low cost.

  • Excellent Buy, Great and easy upgrade.

Bought this Processor as an upgrade to my current 1.86Ghz 1066Fsb 2M L2 Core2Duo This Processor is Easily overclocked to 2.85 Ghz, 1250Fsb, on the stock Intel heat-sink, It runs at about 30-35*c idle at this speed. However. My computer's memory will not enter dual-channel mode, I don't know why, but after install, It just will not. Compared to the 1.86 2mb L2, this 2.4 with 4mb L2, has a definite advantage. My system boots faster, and I can run Auto-CAD 3D with no lag at all. Video rendering time was also improved, as well as general computering. I would recommend this processor highly, as it was an easy upgrade to my system. • Excellent Processor, Runs Cool and Quiet

I just recently upgraded from a Pentium D 945 @3.4Ghz to the Core 2 Duo E6600. The performance difference is outstanding! First off, using Speedfan to monitor temperatures, the Pentium D idled at around 55C and at full power shot up to 72C, which is really hot! The E6600 currently idles at around 38C and at full power only manages to reach a maximum of 50C. Next, the additional bus speed increase from 800Mhz to 1066Mhz and more efficient pipeline of Core 2 Duo architecture really shows a great difference in computing speed. Rendering on CPU benchmark programs have seen a major increase in speed. Lastly, I would definitely recommend this processor to anyone who has an older 945 based motherboard and can support upgrading from Pentium 4/D to Core 2 Duo!

  • if you are still using Pentium D CPUs go to the intel core 2 duo E-series,

-Well worth the upgrade from a Pentium D on a DC7700 Factory Small, Please make sure your motherboard is compatible with the CPU as I bought the same socket only to find it did not work. There are noticeable differences in the performance overall as some apps load more smoothly, and the other change is that my computer is running a lot less hotter, which is great for heat exchange for my graphic card (mid range). I use to think the GHz determined the performance of the cpu but after experience it first hand and learning it from various forums, I will always do a benchmark to not be mistaken again. If your not looking for a gaming PC, and just using it for school/college and work this CPU will do you wonders. More over if you buy a PC with a similar CPU, you can buy a decent computer for ...

  • Stops random rebooting

My computer would reboot at random and seemed to be getting more frequent. After replacing the old processor with this one it hasn't rebooted once. I did improve the odds by using good heatsink compound and getting it spread into a very thin layer with full coverage.
