As it is a good brand and I like the look, I decided to keep it. I gave it a good wipe to remove other people's 'leftovers'. Then I put a layer of my own spice in but what came out together with the grinded spice were specks of black plastic. This is a design fault - the bottom of the 'plunger' (per instruction label) should have some metal component and not plastic that can be grinded off!
