Moore plays bored English aristocrat Lord Brett Sinclair; Curtis is a brash, self-made millionaire from the Bronx named Danny Wilde. Good depiction of the 70's
I used to watch this show with my late father when it was syndicated to Brazilian television, I was still a child at a time, but remember it most because of my father, who seemed to love this show and ever wondered to himself why was it called PERSUADERS. I was beginning to learn English at that time, so I felt sorry for not being able to tell my late father the possible meanings of the title. I can't remember what was it called down here in Brazil, the only thing I can rememember 'bout it is that my father got some good kicks out of it, besides, Roger Moore, the James BOnd which I grew up with in the seventies. All in all, this is a good show, with a good potential, one season was not enough, however, it seems very funny to see how dated it is, including the effects and the fight ... Moore's acting is as poor as ever, although he has a tremendous presence in the screen, and great charisma, that's why he's so beloved around the world, and even though he isn't my Bond of choice, I enjoy seeing him not only as Bond, but also as both The Saint and in Persuaders. Curtis was undoubtedly a more skilled character actor, though. The show is quite entertaining, despite the bad acting (most of the female roles went to stunning models, not actresses), the outdated effects, the childish fights and totally moot and pevisible plots. A very good picture of the 70's. What I liked in this show was to see some major character from BOnd movies, such as the lates Lois Maxell, Bernard Lee and Geofrey Keen (so unfaur to the excellent Desmond Llewellyn, aka Q, they could have well had a use for him in the series), as well as some bond girls. The picture quality is very good, pesenting a clean image, restored, with vivid colors (essential to see very close he gorgeous ladies, the beautiful landscapes and some of Moore's most extravagant choice in clothes, designed by no other than himself!) The sound is a disappoint though. I expected a better treatment concerning sound, and the lack of subtitles or closed captions makes it hard sometimes to ully understand what is being said, specially with dialogues between a heavy-accented Moore and Curtis, overall, a good acquisition, specially for nostalgic fans of the series, as well as Roger Moore fans. My only complains are the lack of subtitles, or closed captions and extras.

The Persuaders
I am really enjoying watching classic British TV from the 70's. I never saw this series growing up but would have enjoyed it then. If I can find season 3 I will buy that too.

Nostalgic fun from the 70's!
Old, out dated but pretty classic Anglo-American buddy TV series. Fun and sometimes surprisingly good still! 100% nostalgic of the 70's. Still enjoyable if you saw them when they first came out - particularly!
