About this product

Product Information

WALKING TALL, a remake based on the popular series of 1970s films by the same title, is all about The Rock. He is larger than life, buff, beautiful, and mad as hell--ready to fight a wave of corruption, gambling, and drugs that have infiltrated his hometown. He plays Chris Vaughn, a man who is returning to his family in Tennessee after serving in the military. But right off the bat, he can tell something is fishy. The lumber mill has closed down and now there are kids on the streets doing drugs. Chris confronts his high-school rival Jay (Neal McDonough), who replaced the honest lumber business with a highly illegal casino, and is almost killed for doing so. Chris reports Jay's dirty business to the cops, only to learn that even the sheriff is on Jay's payroll. The final straw comes when Chris' nephew overdoses on crystal meth bought at the casino, and Chris decides take Jay down vigilante-style, breaking all the rules and fighting for what is right. Massive brawls with The Rock at their center, toting a large 2 x 4 as his only weapon, provide for some highly destructive, very violent face-offs. Ray (Johnny Knoxville) stands by Chris' side, providing comic relief throughout the relentless fighting, and the blond and bronzed Kristen Wilson provides some risque allure as Chris' love interest. WALKING TALL offers a little something for any fan of The Rock.

Fighting to free a town from corruption.

Since I saw the original Walking Tall movie years back I was not expecting how this story was a bit different but it came out pretty darn good and this new Sheriff in town was able to clean it up. Thank goodness for at least one faithful friend to help with doing that.

  • Great Drama Action Movie W the Rock!

Movie Info A man fights to bring decency and the rule of law back to his hometown in this action drama. Chris Vaughn (The Rock) left his home in Washington State's timber country to join the Army, where he distinguished himself as a member of the Special Forces. When his hitch is over, Vaughn decides to return home to help run the family business, a sawmill, but he soon makes the unpleasant discovery that things aren't what they once were. Vaughn learns that the town's lumber industry has all but dried up, and an old high school buddy, Jay Hamilton (Neal McDonough), has turned the city into a den of vice, running a large gambling casino and strip club while selling drugs and women on the side. Angry at this turn of events, and frustrated by local law enforcement officials who are willing ...

  • The Rock makes Walking Tall Insanely Fun

Definitely not Oscar worthy - but if you are looking for a 90 minute joy-ride, Walking Tall is a great trip. The Rock is surprisingly great - he is perfectly built for this role: charismatic, action-star worthy, intelligent, etc. The movie is fun, quick and action-packed. The movie has a series of 5minute action scenes sprinkled throughout that are hard-hitting, offer plenty of thrills, and excellent stunts. If you are rating this movie on entertainment - you'll definitely get your money's worth. If you're looking for fine acting and drama - clearly this isn't that film. I'll venture to bet that, if you give this movie a chance, you'll find it a great ride and a fun film. You can thank me later.

  • Everything ever in a movie

This film may not be the most critically acclaimed, but it really does have everything: military, construction, casinos, hand-to-hand combat, football, law and order, family bonding, that kid that played Zero in Holes, shooting, strippers, courtroom drama, traffic stops, truck deconstruction, camping, drugs, drug busts, hospital drama, physical therapy, political elections, explosions, beating people with a 2x4, torture, the list goes on and on. It manages to intertwine all this into a really good story about justice and personal values. Highly recommended.

  • Good title but maybe not right for this movie.

The Rock did a great job with this movie, but the movie with the same title from years before is just not the same. This was supposed to be a remake, but it just wasn't to me. I realize they had to update the movie for the times we now live in, but the previous movie was excellent, so this one was a little of a let down. But, I must admit I did enjoy the movie once I realized it was just not being done the same as the previous movie with the same title. It will go good in my DVD collection.
