This motherboard worked very well for building a small NAS system. All board functions work. I tried some 4Rx4 memory on the board and it did not work. All the SuperMicro memory for the board is 2Rx4, so I got some of that and it worked fine. To get IPMI working I had to use the SuperMicro IPMI configuration utility to remove the fixed IP address configured on the board and enable DHCP, as well as to reset the password. Instructions on how to do this can be found online.

    Great NAS motherboard

This has worked perfectly for me. Running TrueNAS Core with a few other services, and it's performed flawlessly so far. I did struggle in the beginning getting it to boot from a flash drive, however, ultimately it was a problem on my end. Also, ran into issues using low speed noctua fans for case fans. However once I was able to get it booted, I fixed the fan issue (BMC kept throwing fan failures, lowering the error thresholds fixed the issue). Very happy with this purchase so far, and the active cooler does a good job of keeping the CPU at reasonable temps.

  • CPU get as toasty as the 10gig ports are fast.

Like others have said. The board does run quite toasty if left alone. Added airflow drops the cpu temp significantly. IPMI works and both network ports connect as 10gig so really it's perfect for what I need. Only thing that's odd is the temp reporting in the IPMI does not work until it has booted an OS. A bit odd but not a deal breaker. Probably get another one if need an over-powered OPNSense box.

  • Solid board for a NAS

Used this to replace a failed Atom board in my TrueNAS box. CPU temps are fine with new thermal paste. Only minor gripe is the low number of rear USB ports despite plenty of space on the PCB. However, there are plenty of USB 2.0 headers on the board.

  • Great little board for a NAS

I purchased this board to use for a home NAS project and it fills that role perfectly. It is quiet, low power consumption, and yet more than meets the requirements to run TrueNAS with ECC RAM support, x2 onboard 10G NICs and IPMI for remote management. If there is one downside it would be the single PCIE slot which doesn't easily allow for multiple add on cards, but this is to be expected with a Mini-ITX board. This is a great board for a home project on a budget and/or if your requirements aren't for a high power system.

  • Requires some troubleshooting, but worth it in the end.

Was a bit tricky to setup up (it's really picky about what type of memory and drives you attach to it). But after a quick read through the user manual I was able to figure out what I needed to do to get it running. Makes quite a capable workstation.
