It's all in the wrists
Good product well designed and easy to use. Still you need to guide the knife across the stone freehand, coming back to the guide on each stroke. This will allow your average angle of attack to improve and become more consistent. It has helped me become more aware of how my wrists are subtly affecting angle as I leave the guide. I also now realize that trying to achieve a 17% angle vs. a 20% angle freehand is nearly impossible, which in itself had value.Good product well designed and easy to use. "JUST WHAT I NEEDED"
Since I have over 125 knives in my collection I needed something like this a "LONG"time ago. Some I will NEVER re-sharpen but for the ones I do use this is PERFECT. Great quality and will last a Lifetime. First time I had EVER seen this product and I just had to buy it. Also the lowest price I could find on e-bay.

Not a very helpful tool
The product is well made and shows exactly what each angle of sharpening looks like. The tool is useful for this purpose only as it is not really possible to actually use if while sharpening. It can be used to check your sharpening angle from time to time, but is not really of much use otherwise.
