Can be simplier
This thing is big. But that makes it work with fun longs and sausages. It is also too well built, which makes it overly bulky and heavy. The blades and edge of the plastic can keep gunk stuck up in it. It could be designed better and cheaper. Make it lighter and smaller for easier handling and storing. Where the blades and frame meet can be made so there arent small gaps or gutters for any type of gunk to hang up inside of it. A removeable back would help washing it as well. The backing is there so you cant cut all the way through the hot dog.This thing is big. But that makes it work with fun longs and sausages. Jury's still out on the Slot Dog
The premise is terrific, the packaging looks sharp, and the item itself is well-made and seems sturdy and easy to maintain...BUT - at least with the three different brands of my favored hot dogs I've tried it on so far - instead of cutting all those clever little slots, it just smooshes them. I had already read other user's comments, cautions and suggestions, so I knew that the dog had to be very well-chilled before attempting to slot it, but no luck: the blades just don't seem to be sharp enough. I haven't given up completely yet, so I'll try different angles of approach and degrees of chilling, but so far it's a no-go. Not for Sabretts
I was looking sooooo forward to this with its great reviews.Partially my fault as some reviews stated it only works on skinless dogs.I love Sabretts and I couldn't get this thing to cut putting all my strength on it.I passed it on as my favorite dogs won't work.Wish they could figure out a way!Thought it was expensive but ìt seems to be well made.Ill be waiting for the new improved version!
