About this product

Product Information

Here is the complete story of a most significant era in modern small arms development. Beginning with WWI, Peter Senich details the adaptation of the bolt-action Mauser 98 for long-range sniping and covers the special measures needed to ensure the rifle's accuracy. Moving on to WWII, Senich discusses the venerable Mauser Karabiner 98k and the various novel mounting systems used to adapt it to optical sight. More than 600 exceptional photographs detail every facet of these significant weapons and the men who used them.

  • Good book. Not perfect, but very good.

I purchased this book looking for information on WW2 German snipers and their tactics. This book has excellent pictures, and is propbably the best I've seen yet for desriptions of the rifles used, however is a bit short on information on the actual tactics/techniques used by the Germans. To the author's credit, he refrained from using any information that could not be confirmed, rather than making assumptions to fill page space. Overall, this book is a very good start for someone looking to expand their knowledge of the German sniper.

  • Great refrence........

Best book on German sniping in WW2 ever published.....Heavily illustrated with great coverage of scopes and mounts...must have as a reference..

  • A complete analysis of old-school German Sniper-craft!

This text was excellently researched and written and was perfectly illustrated with clear easy to discern period and modern photographs. If this subject is of interest, this book is a 5-Star pick.

  • Outstand Book

I decided to purchase this book becuase I already own sever of Mr. Senich's works. The book also comes highly recommended by other members of the sniper community as well as historians. Mr. Senich is very good at getting his facts straight unlike some other authors who write fiction about the sniping community. If you like Mr. Senich's other books or are just looking for good accurate information then purchase this book or one of his many other books on the subject. Semper Fi.
