DNA2 (as in squared) is a good crossover anime series between romance/comedy and science fiction. Karin Aoi has come from 100 years in the future to prevent Junta, who, in the future, is known as the "Mega-Playboy”, from causing a population explosion by impregnating 100 women and passing on his propensity towards unrestrained promiscuity to his offspring by shooting Junta with a bullet filled with DNA Control Medicine (or DCM), thus eliminating the Mega-Playboy from Junta’s DNA. There are a couple problems, however: Junta is one of the biggest losers around. He is someone that all the girls avoid, and with good reason. Junta has the distinct problem of throwing up whenever he is around any girls. The only girl that doesn’t effect him, and who is willing to hang out with him, is his childhood friend, Ami. Oh yeah, and Karin brought the wrong bullet from the future. A bullet, which instead of eliminating the Mega-Playboy from Junta, turns Junta into the Mega-Playboy. What occurs over the 15 episodes this series spans is the hilarious trials and tribulations of Junta's life as he continually transforms between his throwing-up regular loser self and the uber-confident and irresistible Mega-Playboy. This series starts out good and keeps getting better through the 4th volume, which is where the original TV series ended. The 5th volume, comprising of 3 OVA episodes, is still good, but not quite as great as the rest of the series, but it does offer a little bit more closure than the TV series alone did. If you don't mind that this series was released in 1994, with the animation quality that goes with that, and like romance comedies that are tilted more towards the comedy than the romance side, with a little bit of sci-fi thrown in, you'll love DNA2.Read full review
Well i love this series i loved watching it, i have never watched anything like this before, i loved watching every minute of it. It is a great change to have something new to watch, because all i have in my DVD collection is action and adventure and comedy, but when this new set of DVDs turned up it made my DVD collection a lot more of a variety. This is a series that i will never get fed up with, because it will be great fun to watch when there is nothing on TV.
