    Old school just stepped up to the new school

    The esab savage A40 has definitely made me a believer. I've been an old school passive shade guy for 30+ years. Having tried auto darkening hoods in the past from various makers. Never a fan, based upon one thing or another. But for the money I thought I'd give it a try. I did my due diligence and looked at all the specs, as well as the hood design. Boy I was as shocked as a moth in a bug zapper. Lightweight, comfortable, easy adjustment of the functions. And the true color lens is great. Esab knocked it out of the park. For the money you can't go wrong with the Savage A40 from Esab. It made a believer out of this old school passive shade welder.

    Best mid priced, name brand hood I've found

    A great middle of the road hood. I wouldn't call it true color but the view is clear and the quality of the hood itself is evident.

    Good value, a40 works awsome.

    I use these items almost daily, the a40 works great I was worried about it with tig but it picks up the ark on any amperage. The beanie works and has elastic on back to fit just about anyone but is thin. I do love the A40.
