  • Baseball from an ordinary guy

I actually bought this book for my boyfriend, who's a big baseball fan. I ended up reading it because it looked pretty interesting. I really liked how Ripken included quotes and jokes from his teammates and coaches. It made him seem more human and less of a cultural icon. I also thought it was cool to read his take on his streak of games that beat Lou Gehrig's record. He wasn't trying to be famous; he was just playing for the love of the game and because he believes in working hard. If you like baseball/the Orioles, it's a great choice. If you don't know much about baseball (like me), some parts are a little confusingly technical, but it's still interesting. It was written in 1997, though, so you don't really get to hear anything about his career after the streak.

  • Cal Ripkin

I bought a book about Cal Ripkin. It is a great book for a teenager who enjoys the game of baseball. It has great details about his journey through baseball and his life.
