    GREAT SET AND BEST WESTERN EVER

    Great movie. Seen is many times and still love it. This set is so nice too, much more than I ever expected. Am so glad I bought it so now I can watch whenever I choose, and I am NOT a fan of watching movies on DVD or Blu-Ray. John Wayne is perfect as is the entire cast; but John Wayne, being a true American, is the perfect lead. Well written, acted, directed, lighting and sets. Shows how brutal living could be when our forefathers came to settle this land. Highly recommend for adults and children--an education in itself..

    One of the all time greatest cinematic classics

    The Searchers is hands down one of the greatest films even made featuring John Wayne's best performance which should have won him an Oscar. The 2 disc 50's anniversary DVD includes a lot of extra features on the 2nd disk as well as photos from on set and even a comic book.

    One of John Wayne's Finest

    This is based on a true story. Depending on who you talk to depends on the story, I'm told. Could be several instances where something like this happened. The story that's told in the Texas Panhandle (around Amarillo) is about Cynthia Ann Parker. She was the mother of one of the last great Indian chiefs, Quanah Parker. There is a town in the Texas Panhandle named for him. Okay, it's an interesting rabbit trail, but the fact that it is based on fact gives the story a sad note that is escalated to tragic proportions. Because of this I find this epic western hard to watch. This is my history of my state in my country. This is not some fictional tale designed to entertain you. Okay.
