While you could always use internet walkthroughs or videos on the web, there’s nothing obsolete about the material in this book if your goal is to master the game. Regardless of if you’re playing the game on retro hardware, steam, DOSBOX, eDuke32, or any other source port; the material in this book remains relevant. The book guides you through each level with detailed maps and images from the game. The author is very good at guiding you through text, and you will learn many techniques to beating the levels and surviving Dukematch. If you want to disconnect from the internet a little bit or even just be able to read about your favorite game when you are stuck at school or something like that, you have the ability to do so from this book. This book is also a MUST have for any Duke collectors. There is also the registered version guide (only covers the first three episodes), and a book that only contains the episode 4 information. This is both of those books, combined. There are subtle differences between each version and I recommend collectors grab them all while they still can! My only complaint is that the pictures in the book are not in color. I believe this book would’ve been beautiful with colored photos, but the black and white photos do what they need to do and still offer great visuals.Read full review
