Excellent HOTAS setup. Very precise joystick. Throttle is a bit too stiff right out of the box, but it lightens up some with use. Plus, you can do the throttle grease removal trick that is shown in several youtube videos. After doing that, the throttle works beautifully. Tons of programmable buttons on both the joystick and the throttle. Rotary switches on my throttle, which were a source of complaint for many, are just fine on mine. Not too much play at all and no skew. Mine was an open box, brand new blue unit, and it seems to be just fine. Guess I must have gotten a good blue unit. If it lasts half as long as my old x52 setup(11 years), I'll be more than thrilled. Great setup for DCS World, which is what I mainly play.

Honestly this HOTAS is a little overpriced for what it is. The plastic has a cheap feel to it, and the overall design feels like a miss. It's quite a stretch to hit some parts of the stick but in general it is very serviceable as a generic HOTAS for many different applications. The stick is probably the worst-designed part. The "A" button and the trim switch are very awkward to reach in particular, and if you use the twist function, the stick tends to creek quite a bit. There seem to be quality issues in manufacturing as well, as one of the hat switches on the throttle does not spring back to center. I get around this by just not using it, but this is honestly kind of a deal-breaker for me. It's vastly overpriced for the actual amount of care put in to making and designing it. Would I recommend it? If you are looking for a HOTAS in this price class, yes. If you're willing to spend more, go with Virpil or the Thrustmaster Warthog. For what it's worth, I paid what those are worth for mine due to really low supply of HOTAS controllers in general and this was what I was able to get in a determinate period of time. I don't regret the purchase, but I expect more for what Logitech thinks is a $250 controller, especially paying nearly twice that.Read full review

I was nervous about my x56 being refurbished but working great I read alot reviews about some good some bad the bad ones say installing issues, before you install this download the drivers and start installing them it will tell you when to plug them in. I'm loving this thing so much custom stuff you can to do this. The throttle is a little tough to move, so screw it down or use Velcro to keep it in place, the stick is big I'm using the riser and it helps but makes access to a pinky button a little hard to get, over all this thing is way precise I love it on elite dangerous and star citizen.

Cheap injection molded garbage, Saitek is no longer in business and Logitech will not help you. Plugged in this set and came to find out that my keyboard and mouse interferes with it, making my aircraft spin in circles constantly. Unplugged keyboard and mouse, problem solved right? 10 minutes later, same issue arised without the keyboard and mouse even being plugged in. Huge hollow plastic base, internal components are TINY and cheaply made. Don't buy. Go for another brand.

I really wanted one of these the only alternative to this is made by thrustmaster it's called the warthog. They're about $400 give or take. So since this one was similar I figured it would be a good bye and Logitech usually makes a great product. But since buying this and having to return it I have read a lot of negative reviews that actually reflect my opinion. This is absolutely not worth two hundred plus dollars. It's poorly designed and poorly made the buttons and switches on it are loose and don't feel sturdy. The rudder control on this controller failed horribly it seems to be a common issue for a lot of folks that buy this joystick. Do yourself a favor save the extra 200 and buy yourself a quality joystick if you're into flying and space sims.

==== UPDATE 30 DAYS LATER ==== The joystick Y-axis failed about 5 weeks after the original purchase. After reviewing this with Logitech, who agreed the hardware had failed, I learned that refurbished products are not covered by their warranty and thus I'm out of luck. I strongly recommend avoiding this product -- it's unreliable and not covered by warranty! ==== Original review ==== A lot of people complain about this hotas arriving with button issues, but I haven't experienced any. It all worked ok. It's true that it's not the best designed (the TM warthog being the next step up and much higher quality) and quite plasticky, but it does have a ton of functionality and the price is almost half the warthog. Tip: Use the weakest spring (and consider trimming it shorter), and use some dampening grease on the ball joint to improve feel. No idea why Saitek doesn't do this before shipping, it would improve consumer feedback and be inexpensive.Read full review

This was a very good deal and it is perfect for DCS. Only problem I have is the throttle it’s self wobbles a little left and right. Also one of the little hat switches on the throttle when you push it down it doesn’t click like the others which for a refurbished item I wasn’t expecting everything to be perfect. It came with the manual and springs and even the original box. I would definitely recommend it for DCS and it’s honestly a really good deal. It’s a $100 of normal retail!

The joystick, a SAITEK joystick, didn't last but three days before failing in the X, Y & Z axis. Logitech purchased SAITEK. However, they made significant improvements after taking over the brand - primarily in product quality. Logitech X56 products will have the Logitech gaming logo on the rear of the units.

Some games have a lot of buttons to memorize. It is not easy but this is not the fault of the joystick. It seems to be made well and it does have a ton of buttons. I can't imagine a flight sim this stick could not handle. Now getting my brain to remember it all is a whole different matter.
