Synopsis
The beloved, bestselling tale of edible weather is brought to life If food dropped like rain from the sky, wouldn't it be marvelous Or would it? It could, after all, be messy. And you'd have no choice. What if you didn't like what fell? Or what if too much came? Have you ever thought of what it might be like to be squashed flat by a pancake?, If food dropped like rain from the sky, wouldn't it be marvelous! Or would it? It could, after all, be messy. And you'd have no choice. What if you didn't like what fell? Or what if too much came? Have you ever thought of what it might be like to be squashed flat by a pancake?, An imaginative story of amazing food weather that inspired the hit movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is a favorite of grown-ups and children everywhere. The tiny town of Chewandswallow was very much like any other tiny town--except for its weather which came three times a day, at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But it never rained rain and it never snowed snow and it never blew just wind. It rained things like soup and juice. It snowed things like mashed potatoes. And sometimes the wind blew in storms of hamburgers. Life for the townspeople was delicious until the weather took a turn for the worse. The food got larger and larger and so did the portions. Chewandswallow was plagued by damaging floods and storms of huge food. The town was a mess and the people feared for their lives. Something had to be done, and in a hurry.

  • OUCH!

This book is just too cute. My children have read it over and over. The children in this book wake up to an ordinary day. Mom is making orange juice and grandpa is making pancakes, suddenly one pancake gets flipped and flies through the air and hits one of them in the head. Later that night grandpa tells the children a story about the town of Chewandswallow. In this town food falls from the sky, not rain and not snow. Hamburgers, hotdogs, pancakes, eggs, etc... Very cute book. The artwork is excellent. My children have theorized that it would be great to have candy fall from the sky as long as they have a really strong umbrella.

  • Great Book for the beginning reader!

We bought the book as our son read the book in Pre-K, and we love the book as it brings scene to life in a child's imagination by vividly describing the picture shown and allowing the child to expand upon it - twice through, and our son excitedly anticipates what will happen next, even though he can tell you the book almost scene for scene, as you find new things about the pictures each time. I would recommend this book highly to any parent looking to start their child on the road to reading well and enjoys telling/reading stories.

  • A Classic!

I recently purchased "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs". It was, and still is my favorite childhood story; perfect for a child with an active imagination. I would suggest that the story is at a primary reading level. Pictures are artistic and vivid. Not too short, not too long - the perfect length to capture and maintain attention. A great buy.

  • Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

This is one of my favorite books from childhood! I bought it for nostalgia's sake, and to continue adding to the library I intend to read to my kids one day. This is a really well written, humorous and imaginative book that elementary aged youth will thoroughly enjoy. The illustrations are also superb--rich details and fantastical images will delight young minds and encourage their own creative process. A beautiful story I encourage all parents of young kids to buy!
