I have to get nostalgic and say that Metal Gear Solid is one of my favorite games and this is a great update to the game. I played Mgs as a kid and got mgs:tts when it released(it's why I got a gamecube) to relive the game in updated graphics and engine.

The game itself was a blast to play. But the first disc had a few big scratches on it that caused the game to freeze up or crash on more than a few occasions.

Meta Gear Solid. Some say it's the best game series ever. I say it's a very excellent one. Some will also bash the Twins Snakes for what ever various reasons. I say if you havent played a Metal Gear Solid game and have a Gamecube or Wii I say at least give this game a rental. First thing you should know is this game is NOT both Metal Gear Solid 1 and Metal Gear Solid 2 in the same game. It is just a remake of the first Metal Gear Solid game using the graphics engine and controls of the second game. Basically in the game you play a soldier code named Solid Snake who has to infiltrate a nuclear disposal facility on Shadow Moses Island and stop the terrorists who invaded the place before they launch a nuke. Snake soon finds out that the military was actually working on a bipedal tank called Metal Gear REX that could launch a nuke from pratically any terrain. Eventually he comes across a scientitst named Hal Emmerich (also known as Otacon) after fighing off the Cyborg Ninja. After rescuing Otacon and telling him that Metal Gear REX was not to help people but designed to be a weapon Snake goes on to take out an elite unit called FOXHOUND, save a gir named Meryl, take out his twin brother Liquid Snake, and destroy REX with some help from Otacon, Meryl, and a certain someone.Read full review
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes for the Nintendo Gamecube is a revised version of the Metal Gear game for the Playstation one system. It has the same main storyline, but with better graphics that match or surpass those of the Metal Gear Solid 2 game, which was for the Playstation 2, as well as some altered storyline plots. You get to do the same great stealthy things, like sneaking up on targets and shaking them down for supplies, and using silent weapons to put them all down one by one. There are plenty of things to do in this game, and there is even a level of replayability to it. If you beat the game with certain criteria met, you earn special upgrades like infinite ammo to use when you replay through the game for added fun. The storyline is still very deatailed, and it is just as interesting to go through as the original game was. If you are a Metal Gear fan, you must own this game.Read full review
I saw a reviewer say that there's too much cheesy dialog and cutscenes; they don't understand Metal Gear. The gameplay isn't revolutionary, but it works, but MGS is much more than that. It has a wonderful story and well-choreographed cutscenes, although it does begin to make you think "That doesn't seem possible." This game's story and dialog rivals great stories such as FFVII. Also, there are above-average voice actors that in some ways exceed the Japanese actors, which is rare. I recommend this only if you want an entertaining story and good long cutscenes. If you're looking for a great gameplay experience, try Splinter Cell, since sometimes you can play this game with heavy action, something you can't do in Splinter Cell.
