I am so excited to get this copy of The Eye of the World. I lent my copy years ago and never got it back. This copy is beautiful and like new even though it is the same as the one that I received as a gift in 1990. Ready for my sixth read of the Wheel of Time series now that my first book in the series has been replaced.

Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time, book 1, The Eye of the World, brings you into a world of fantastical imagination. Exceptionally written, Robert Jordan takes you for a ride through his imagination. Written as if actually experienced,he takes you on a journy of high adventure. It is the classic battle between good and evil, and the fate of the world rests on the shoulders of one youth, Rand al'Thor. When four village youths are wisked away in the dead of night, it becomes a race against time to prevent the Dark One from breaking loose and reshaping the world into his image. But unknown to all, suspected by one, Rand is the worlds saviour, yet distined to go mad, from the taint on Saidin, the very power of the Dragon needed to save humanity from being swallowed by the shadow. As you read, you can't help becoming fond of all the characters. Laughing at Mattrim Cauthon's mischievious sence of hummor, agreeing with Perrin t'Abara's methodical thought,to always think things through, being captivated by Egwene al'Vere's love of life and excitment, and understanding Rand al'Thor's seanse of duty towards his friends, father and his home Emond's Field. This is the book to read before all the rest. Only then can you truely understand and enjoy the whole story of "The Wheel of Time". The Wheel of Time is certainly a fantasy series that should have a place on everyones bookshelves. If you don't beleave me, go to the library and check it out. You'll most likely end up buying the whole series like I did. If you found this guide helpfull, please leave me a vote. Thank You. Copyright thehighwayman 11-2006Read full review
This is book 1 out of 12 (so far, I believe). I had this recommended to me from my dad who does not recommend many. If you like fantasy (like Lord of the Rings or Eragon), this book has it ALL. It is about a boy, Rand and his three best friends, Mat and Perrin. They are from a small town called Two Rivers where not much else goes beyond their town (not many travelers and not many people who even leave). Until one day an enchanting women and her guard arrive, which is only followed by the next day where evil Trollocs and Fades attack their tiny unknown town. What I really loved about this book in particular was all the background mentioned. Have you ever read a book and wish there was more story (not excuss to detail, but plotting) to it? A little more added history, character development, more significance that would have put the book over the edge?? I am not a fan of overly drawn out detail, that is not this book. this book puts just enough story that it flows swiftly and becomes quite the page turner. A build of suspense that makes you crave for more. Jordan paints a unique picture using words and phrases you never would have put together. I am currently reading book 2, the Wheel of Time and can't read it fast enough.Read full review
