Not for universal for all die cut embossing machines. This is the Super deep dies embedded with foam around the blades to protect you and the blades both. Ok so if you have a platform style die machine with wide mouth this die replaces the platform and you still use a cutting plate but just one usually. Rarely do you need shims. This cuts multiple layers of card stock at once or vinyls and even multiple layers of fabric. A very serious style of dies. Now it's adorable. It makes a simple pop up heart and youtube had simple directions for that and I found no more. One youtube showed an adorable card/booklet made for their daughter which is similar to what I bought it for. I want to make multi page heart mini books with fancy stamps and designs on each page with or without descriptions say on the opposite page. Some will have text some only design stamps. I also may need to adjust stamp designs or drawings in size to fit perfectly. This can be tricky with this style of die. You also will probably want an Extra Long not always XL cutting plate for this model. So about 11 to 14 inches I didn't measure it and so don't recall. It's in the drawer were I keep all such special steel rule dies. Because I intend to make multi page booklets I'm going to cut a lot of hearts. There are plenty of fairly large even larger perhaps heart dies out there but when you need to cut lots of them then I wanted to have a die to hold up to cutting along with I can put in 3 even up to 5 layers of card stock and safe time. This works with the Sizzix larger die cutting machines and Spellbinders 6 and 8.5 Platinum line machines. It will not work with Diamond Press, Bria, or smaller machines. Must be at least 6 inches wide and a deep platform based opening for this die to fit. Anyway I plan to make at least 5 different booklets with oohlala style dies and romantic and a couple fantasy style subjects. Magical animals like unicorns and animals coming from mother earth out of trees etc. I will adjust sizes of stamps if need be by scanning and then adjusting and printing. That's where the careful planning comes in. You work a bit blind in paper placement. That's the only negative for me. Again I can work out this however from my end. Others might struggle more. If on the fence check out the two youtubes on this item. Read full review
