About this product

Product Information

Medium Raw marks the return of the inimitable Anthony Bourdain, author of the blockbuster bestseller Kitchen Confidential and three-time Emmy Award-nominated host of No Reservations on TV's Travel Channel. Bourdain calls his book, "A Bloody Valentine to the World of Food and the People Who Cook," and he is at his entertaining best as he takes aim at some of the biggest names in the foodie world, including David Chang, Alice Waters, the Top Chef winners and losers, and many more. If Hunter S. Thompson had written a book about the restaurant business, it could have been Medium Raw.

  • Not Bad but Mostly Forgetable

I dutifully read through the first 100 pages but then found myself skimming through to the end of certain chapters. I find Anthony Bourdain to be an entertaining fellow (if nothing else) and I even enjoy his matter-of-fact writing style, but at some point I just stopped caring. I don't really care about what he thinks about hamburgers or celebrity chefs. Admittedly, I am just a casual fan, the devout Bourdain fans; the ones that hang on his every word and text their friends when they see him on the street will probably love it. It just seems like something he had to write in order to capitalize on his rising popularity. But that's just me.

  • A Sequel Better Than the Original

In this sequel to the hit "Kitchen Confidential", former chef-turned-writer Anthony Bourdain has found his stride. Writing with a tell-it-like-it-is perspective that varies from acerbic to reverent, Bourdain takes on popular topics in the food world (the meat industry, David Chang, pursuing a culinary school education, Top Chef) as well as personal (divorce, fatherhood) and makes them accessible and entertaining for a reader. Buy it. "Medium Raw" is a sequel far better than the original.

  • An absolutly awesome masterpiece

Anthony Bourdain is an excellent author with colorful dialog, highly interesting stories and a great insight into the culinary world...This book is a must read. I am completely addicted to his writings...
