These seem to fail after about 10 years and the Yamaha replacements are astoundingly expensive for what they are. Discovered these aftermarket replacements and they work great. I have twin 2004 F225's and the ISC failed on both with a year of each other. You know you need to replace the ISC when: 1) you do no see the idle start at about 1000 RPM after starting and then settle down to 600 RPM after about 15 seconds or 2) You do not hear the ISC "ticking" after you switch the engine off or 3) The engine will barely run. This one just happened to me. I knew I had a bad ISC and suddenly the engine would barely run. Hooked up my YDS (Yamaha Diagnostic System computer) and saw the injector open time was all over the place. The ISC had been bad for months so I had no reason to believe it was the cause but sure enough, as soon as I disconnected the ISC the engine purred as usual. Replaced the ISC with this aftermarket one and all was well, engine ran great and idle speed started at about 1000 RPM after initial start and settled right down to 600 RPM.Read full review

Works as it should. On startup engine revs to 1100 then within seconds drops to 800 just like our fuel injected cars do.
