I purchased this movie after watching a rendition on Starz Package. My son who is five and musically talented continued to sing the songs until the movie arrived. The extra disc featured so much information of what it takes to make a Disney Classic. I support these movies for they are legends of the movie screen. You rarely see music and dancing anymore with the picture quality and choreagraphy that is displayed in this classic. I will continue to increase my collection of musicals in DVD form and I highly suggest this is one that you should ad to your collection if you are a collector and viewer enthusiast.
I hadn't seen this movie in eons, but I wanted to add it to my collection. I was surprised to see Ian Flemmings name and Albert Brocolli in the credits...they are the guys who do 007 Bond movies. So knowing that, you can see the similarities with a flying car that can also float and that has an ejector spring in the back seat. It was really fun to watch again; I had forgotten so much of the action it was like seeing it for the first time. All the details in the sets and costumes make it very rich. The story line is great and quite believable. The songs and costumes are superb. You can see some similarities with Mary Poppins and that is fine. A great family movie or for anybody really. Suitable for all ages. One you will surely keep forever.
My husband had mentioned he'd like to watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang since it had been years since seeing it. We had rented it from the library and my two year old fell in love with it. I kept checking it out because she kept asking to watch it. After six weeks I finally returned it and she kept asking for it. There are many versions of the movie available on ebay and I found this one for a total for $7 (including shipping). It was brand new and even includes a bonus dvd. We still watch it darn near every day and my daughter even does one of the dances. It's a great family movie with story telling, signing, and dancing. If you watch this you'll quickly become a Dick Van Dyke fan.
This is a great story of rags to riches and the exciting road that leads the Potts family up the ladder of success. The brilliant inventor Caractucus Potts invents a flying car that takes them to the country of Bulgaria where they must free the Potts children from the evil Barron Bomburst and free the weary troubled village children from being out casts. Throughout the story Mr. Potts faces failure as an inventor but in the end comes through with an invention that helps him strike it rich.
I find it funny that Roald Dahl was angry over the way Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was butchered by it's translation into the Gene Wilder production. I think it was a movie that even though poetic license it's very well made. Well Roald this is what you did with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. You made some very engaging characters that will live on in greater splendor as has been the case in my past growing up waiting for those times of the year when the television networks would show it. And when it was on video it would get rented so often to entertain during birthdays and what have you. This will be a centre-point to many other parents showing it to their kids and their kids kids. It will endure because it has and it has the proven itself to remain so for as long as we are around to enjoy it.Read full review
