Love it! Case was a little worn and disks had fingerprints but runs perfect! I get so much nostalgia playing and it brings me so much joy! Am so happy to get to play this game

Disc 1 has major lags in certain spots. Freezes quite often. Was barely able to finish it. Disc 2 (Claire’s) was unplayable. It freezes in the beginning of the RPD and won’t play. Tried several times to restart it but it won’t work. Wasted my money buying this and now I have to spend more money to find a different copy.

I played this game back in the day, but I wanted to own it now because I'm a hardcore zombie movie fan. The Resident Evil games in general do an excellent job of making you feel like you're playing a Romero type zombie movie. I love the graphics of this game, which even by today's standards are still impressive, as well as the immersive story. I also love the way the game pits you against more than just zombies: in fact, I would say the zombies are the least of your worries in this game. I've seen things in the Resident Evil series in general that, before playing those games, I'd only seen in my worst nightmares. This series is famous for moments that make you jump, and this game is no exception. In fact, it's during those times when it is completely quiet that you feel the most scared and vulnerable, as you know that any moment something indescribably horrifying is going to pop out of somewhere and try to send you home in a bodybag. As far as dislikes, this particular game, even on the easy mode, seems extremely challenging and does not give you much ammo. Low ammo and zombies is a bad combination: it's hard enough facing hordes of the undead with an abundance of ammo, but when you're constantly running out it's nearly impossible. I mean, Bruce Campbell always had enough ammo in his movies, is it too much to ask for us to have enough in this game? Nonetheless, this does add to the tension and make the overall "zombie" gaming experience feel more realistic. Well, that's my review: short and sweet. In summary, the pros are: pretty good graphics (even today), immersive story and game play (to where you feel like you are really there amidst all of these zombies) and a variety of enemies (not just zombies). The cons are that I found it extremely difficult (even on the easy mode) and the designers were way too stingy with the ammo (to where I found myself running out of ammo and then being overwhelmed by hordes of zombies). Nonetheless, if your hardcore about zombies or zombie movies, you'll love this game (and this series, for that matter).Read full review
Haven't played this since it first came out. Brings back some memories. Sure, graphics and game play have improved since then, but at the time this was one of the hottest games around. I still enjoy it!

Hello adventurers old and new. From the engrossing storyline to the awesome action, RE2 delivers in spades. A masterpiece of survival horror. The ambiance, the music of this game; spectacular. And the munsters: zombies, lickers, the tyrant and others; prepare to be scared. Sure, the graphics are not nextgen, and indeed we could use the control Leon Kennedy has in RE4, yet for the qualities mentioned above, remains in my opinion a must have title. Don't miss it.
Raccoon City has somehow fallen victim to a zombie outbreak and it's up to you as either police officer Leon Kennedy, or Claire Redfield (sister to Chris Redfield from RE1), to find out what's going on. The adventure, which takes place in 3D using pre-rendered backgrounds, drags you through spooky crash sites, abandoned buildings, experiments gone wrong and more -- all the while battling undead monstrosities, solving puzzles and, most of all, trying to stay alive. Lots of weapons and other gadgetry allow for some truly disgusting mayhem. It's an incredibly frightening game that delivers a light back-story and lots of slasher movie, jump-out-and-go-boo scares.
Resident Evil 2 is the best survival horror game that I have ever played. It doesn't disappoint in any category. Story-10 Zombies have taken over the town and you have to escape alive. Typical survival horror story, but that really doesn't matter. Gameplay-10 The only problems I had with the game were getting used to the controls at first and the camera angles. But, once you get used to those there's really no problem. You have to traverse the town of Raccoon City solving puzzles and blowing away hordes of zombies looking for a way to escape. There are a variety of weapons ranging from a handgun to a crossbow to a grenade launcher. The weapons make the game extremely fun. The puzzles are fairly straightforward but you might get stuck on a couple. A lot of people complain about how there is too much backtracking, but I don't find it a problem. You can play as either Leon or Claire and once you beat the game it unlocks another scenario for you to play through. What you took or did in the first scenario affects what happens in the second one. Say, if you take the submachine gun and extra item pack in the first one, it won't be the there in the second one. There are also two secret scenarios to play through and you can also unlock secret costumes. There's one more thing that I had a problem with, though. Why would there be those kinds of statues and puzzles in a police station? I mean, if a cop needs to get to a room where he or she is not authorized to; do they put a medal in a slot in front of a statue and take the key? I don't think so. But, what are you gonna do? Sound-10 I thought that the music really did a good job adding to the atmosphere. All of the sound effects in general were good. The moaning of the zombies, the footsteps, the fans going. All great. Atmosphere-10 Just great. It provided plenty of scares. One moment you're walking down a quiet hallway and the next moment, a giant experiment busts through the wall. It keeps the game from getting boring. Just perfect. Replay-10 Combine the A and B scenarios for both characters and the secret costumes and the secret missions with the sheer fun and you've got a game you can play over and over and over. Overall, this game is worth whatever you pay for it. I can still play the game through without getting bored. Go out and buy this game if you don't have it.Read full review
It took me 7 hours straight to beat the first Resident Evil game. You would think that with such dedication to the first incarnation, I would be foaming at the mouth for any information about the highly anticipated sequel. Sadly, at the time, Resident Evil took a backseat to my other interests. I never played Resident Evil 2 when it came out. I never rented the game. I never even borrowed it from a friend. The only opportunity I got to interact with it's engrossing storyline was when I purchased Resident Evil Director's Cut. That game came with a demo for Resident Evil 2, which I thought to be truly excellent. Make your way across Raccoon city battling zombies?? How does that not make your mouth water? So, fast forward 10 years. I obtain a cheap psOne and manage to find a brand new copy of Resident Evil 2 for an adequate price on eBay. I have played every "true" RE game. That is, of course, discounting the "gun game" series. Resident Evil 2 is an epic game. Resident Evil 2 was for us then, what Fallout 3 is for us now. Well maybe not that large, but for 1998, pretty damn close. It took the Resident Evil formula, injected it with adrenaline and we were presented with a gaming experience stronger than being at ground zero of a nuclear explosion. The 3d pre-rendered backgrounds were back, but seemed to be higher resolution. The game play retained quirks found in the first RE with a few new tricks to enhance the game, like mixing ammunition and upgrading your gun with various parts to make it more powerful. The game is so large, it takes place between two characters over two different discs. Not only that, but you can choose to select between normal modes and alternative modes that will move items and objects from their normal locations into different areas to make the game more challenging. Add to this, unlockables, and you really have a game ahead of it's time. I really have yet to play a game that bears the Resident Evil moniker that has such an engaging storyline. The intro cinematic fmvs are very well done, considering how they were rendered for ancient Playstation hardware. If you are a Resident Evil fan, you must play this game. Otherwise don't call yourself a fan.Read full review
I bought this game because it is part of one of the best survival horror game series out there and this game lives up to that title. Even though the graphics on this version of the game are really awful the game does still deliver plenty of scars. this particular game also has one of the most unique forms of game play I have ever seen how you play as one character determines what happens when you play as the other character. My only complaint is how bad the voice acting is and how bad the characters lines are in the story but the plot and game play make up for it. I gave the game a four out of five because the graphics and the bad voice acting brought it down from a five out of five.
from the music, the visuals, and it's ambience - it all screams isolation in a hostile world, it truly is survival horror I also love the character designs the puzzles make the game worthwhile and more than just shooting up rotten flesh. You have to figure out riddles and decipher patterns in the world layout to discover the clues and how to reach them. Playing the earlier Resident Evil games definitely entail deductive reasoning to various degrees.
