The portability of the Magellan eXplorist 200 Handheld GPS makes it a great tool for outdoor enthusiasts on the go. It is small in size but big on features. This GPS unit measures 3 inches long, 2 inches wide, and 5 inches high. Packing it long distances while hiking is easy because it only weighs 3.9 ounces without a battery and 5.8 ounces with batteries. The four-level grayscale, 2.3-inch LCD screen has an amber backlight. This allows for both daytime and nighttime viewing. The zoom capabilities give users a close-up view of any object on the screen. The bright yellow casing on the eXplorist is easy to spot at the bottom of a bag and has a rubber-armored and impact-resistant shell. It is waterproof and meets IPX-7 specifications. The Magellan Company designed this global positioning system to withstand a rugged lifestyle with all the advanced navigational technology needed to stay safe in the outdoors. The Magellan eXplorist 200 uses a proprietary TrueFix GPS technology that is supported by EGNOS and WAAS receiver on 14 parallel channels. EGNOS is a European satellite navigation system, and WAAS provides positioning through GPS signal correction. This combination allows for a reliable, fast signal. It has an accuracy rating of up to 3 meters and a built-in, multi-directional patch antenna update. According to the Magellan eXplorist 200 GPS manual, it features a built-in 8 MB of memory with background maps of Europe and North America. The map shows waterways, parks, roads, airports, and city monuments. It helps people navigate roads and highways along with the mountain trail. These diverse units can save up to 5 track log files with 500 points of interest, including 20 routes. Anyone can operate this easy-to-use Magellan eXplorist GPS. The manual gives the user information on the eXplorist 200 GPS and is recommended reading before heading to the backcountry. The unit has a comfortable casing design that works for either left-handed or right-handed users. The Magellan eXplorist one-touch keypad is the way to discover all the features available, and the joystick controller makes scrolling down the menu easy. The screens can be customized to show speed, location, direction, waypoints, and distance. Nine direct-access keys are accessible from the keypad. The one-button access system takes users to the navigation screen, menu, points of interest, routes, and backlighting features.
