The title speaks to the worst , most brutal POW camp during the American Civil War.

This film portrays the inhumane conditions at this POW camp, in Georgia, during the latter part of the American Civil War. The abominable conditions for Union prisoners are accurately shown and are almost impossible to believe!

  • I've said all I have to say a bout this product.

Although an outstanding presentation in itself, this film depicts a horrible situation in our nations history. We should be ashamed of what is depicted, but at the time this took place it was assumed that it was all that could be done with so many prisoners. Is this a quality product? YES INDEED! Would I buy it again? At the first possible opportunity. As a history buff, this becomes an integral part of my collection of Civil War films and books. Much credit should go to Ted Turner for his efforts to depict the events of the Civil War!

  • Andersonville...the horrors exposed very realistically

I read the book, Andersonville many years ago. I had been unaware it had been made into a movie. I recently purchased the DVD and watched it last night with my wife. I felt it captured the horrors of the death camp very well. The movie reminded me of the Nazi concentration camps. This is a very real and ugly part of our history that should be shown to students.

  • Good movie

They cleaned it up but it's roughly the true story. Gave the prisoners clothes, and they don't look starved to death, but it's enough to give you the idea of the reality. Read the book if you want b a better idea and remember that's probably cleaned up too.

  • A Real Hidden Gem

One of the best American Civil War films you can buy. A lesser known part of history that shouldn't be forgotten.
