In addition to the Dragon Age: Origins game published by Electronic Arts for the Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3), the Dragon Age: Origins – Collector’s Edition comes with a cloth map of the game world, three exclusive in-game items, and a bonus DVD featuring a "making of" documentary, soundtrack, trailers, wallpaper, concept art montage, and strategy tips for playing the game. Also included are two exclusive items for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning: the Skaven Skin Cloak and Adventurer’s Handbook. This special Dragon Age: Origins – Collector’s Edition box set for the PS3 comes presented in its own tin case. The edition also includes bonus codes for The Stone Prisoner DLC bonus quest and unlockable character Shale, as well as the Blood Dragon Armor for use in Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2, both games having been developed by BioWare. The three in-game items exclusively available to owners of Dragon Age: Origins – Collector’s Edition are: Bergen’s Honor, an imposing helmet made from dragon bone to significantly enhance physical resistance by +25; the Grimoire of the Frozen Wastes, which gives players +3 attribute points to spend; and Final Reason, a powerful magical staff with +3 damage, +10 spellpower and +15 percent fire damage. In Dragon Age: Origins, players have a choice of three character classes: Mage, Rogue, and Warrior. A master of elemental powers and the forces of magic, the Mage focuses on casting spells to inflict damage on enemies or to heal allies. A Mage can also combine spells too, for instance, cover the ground with flammable grease and then set it alight with a follow-up fireball. The Rogue, meanwhile, is a specialist in speed and subterfuge, focusing on developing skills like picking locks and sneak attacks. The Rogue can dual wield weapons and excels in archery. The Warrior can specialize in any weapon, whether ranged or melee. The Warrior class has extraordinary stamina and the ability to withstand more damage than the other classes. Each new game of Dragon Age: Origins begins with a choice of gender, race, and class, with their playable origin back story determined on the basis of these choices. Choosing to play as a Human in the Warrior class, for instance, will lead to the Human Noble origin, while playing as an Elf in the Rogue class will lead to the Dalish Elf origin. There are six origins in total, with the others being Magi (open to the Human and Elf races only), City Elf, Dwarven Commoner, and Dwarven Noble. These Origin Stories establish the tone for the rest of the game and provide detailed background information on the races and world of Ferelden. Further customization options allow players to determine the appearance of their characters to a greater extent than many similar games. Among the most popular role-playing games for the PS3, Dragon Age: Origins allows players to issue orders to party members and take individual control of each. With its award-winning original soundtrack (included on the bonus DVD), immersive, cinematic gameplay, and plenty of special content, Dragon Age: Origins – Collector’s Edition from Electronic Arts is an excellent find for fans of the Dragon Age series of video games.
