Inspect before you try to use
Was looking for a replacement Defiant brand light sensor unit to replace a defective sensor on one of my outside lights. Bought one from Bubbakeg on ebay, said it was "New, open box" showed the Defiant box, same as what I bought from H-D before, and at the $15.00 price, was a good deal, and bought it. Two weeks later, went to install it, was not the same brand or model, no Defiant name on it, plus 2 of the wire leads were cut short, only about 3 inches long. So I throw it back in the box, haul off to H-D to get a suitable sensor. The new Defiant box is identical to the Defiant box from Bubbakeg except Bubba pasted big stickers over anything that gave a name or model number, which he did show in his add. He also showed a picture of the sensor head, but not the short cut leads. Now did Bubba pull a fast one??? Or was this something he never inspected as well, to operate what looks to be an on-line thrift shop !!!!! Hard to say but No Thanks Bubba !!!!!!!Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Defiant 270 Degree Motion Sensor
I replaced the same model (5 yr old) sensor with a new Defiant 270 degree motion sensor. I could not believe how cheaply manufactured the replacement sensor is. Within two days my flood lights controlled by the unit would not shut off when activated at night. Adjusting the timer did not have any effect. I finally went to my local hardware store and purchased a unit made by a different manufacture. The new unit works just fine. Defiant DF-5716 motion sensor replacement
The unit was purchased to replace an old motion sensor that became unreliable. it went with a light fixture in breezeway. the fixture is in the middle of the room. unfortunately, the sensor didn't work well due to the small room size. The previous sensor did work in that small area. Even putting the Defiant distance adjustment know all the way to close, didn't work well. I ended up moving the sensor away from the light fixture and putting the sensor on one side of the breezeway so it could "See" better. This worked well. now the unit is working as desired. IMHO, the sensor needs at least 10 feet to work. when the unit was in the middle of the breezeway, there was about 6 o 7 feet and it was not reliable in sensing someone opening the door and entering.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

This is well built for the price and works great. However it seems to be designed for front, bottom or side mount of an electrical box only. The sensor will not work for a top mount application do to the swivel configuration. The sensor won't bend down enough to a level position.
