About this product

Product Information

In M1 Tank Platoon II, you command an elite platoon of M1 Abrams tanks in real time battle simulations. After completing training at Fort Knox armor school and the national training center at Fort Irwin, you can head into single battles from different historical eras, mount a campaign in a given era, or play a multi-player game via modem, Internet, LAN or link cable.

Battles are ranked in three levels where level one is the easiest and level three the most difficult. Full campaigns will contain a mixture of all battle types. Before each battle, you are briefed on enemy forces, told about air and ground support in the area and given the coordinates of the target you are going to attack or defend. Before each mission begins, you must map out the route your platoon will take to the target. You can also mark where your air or ground support will attack.

During each mission, it is your job to destroy enemy vehicles, secure targets and keep the tanks in your platoon from being destroyed. You have several weapons at your disposal to accomplish these tasks.

APFSDS (Armor-Piercing, Fin-Stabilized, Discarding Sabot) missiles pierce the skin of enemy tanks, release deadly shrapnel inside and ignite anything within that is flammable. HEAT (High Explosive Anti-Tank) missiles blast through tank armor and explode with deadly force.

MPAT (Multi-Purpose, Anti-tank) rounds are not as powerful as the HEAT or Sabot but are effective against lighter vehicles, ground troops and aircraft. STAFF missiles are Smart, Target-Activated, Fire and Forget rounds. These contain a radar homing device that can differentiate between targets and ground clutter. Once a gunner launches a STAFF missile, he does not need to worry about firing again.

The gunner also has access to a coaxial shell firing machine gun. The coax rounds will not penetrate armored tanks but they are good against ground troops and aircraft. The Tank Commander also has access to the tank's machine gun that can be used to take out ground troops or aircraft.

Missions can be either historical, hypothetical or random in M1 Tank Platoon II. There are five campaign theaters including Gulf War II, Russian Far East, Central Europe, Balkans or North Africa. More than 70 ground and air vehicles, each with their own weapons systems, are available as well.

To get up to speed on the looks and abilities of United States and foreign war machines, visit the War College included on the M1 Tank Platoon II CD-ROM.

Item arrived safely packed in bubble wrap in the condition described by the seller. I'm not a high tier enthusiast but when I opened the cartridge up it looked authentic. I tested it and it still works great! I feel I got a good deal from this seller.

  • AWESOME CLASSIC TANK COMMANDER GAME

So this is just one of the most fun tank games ever made. But any system higher than Windows 95 is fruitless out of the box. It takes serious tweaking to make it happen in Win 10 or Win 7 or even Win xp. You need software wrappers and you need DXwnd. I had to tweak around for hours with Dxwmd options to make it work. Now everything runs awesome in Direct 3D and everything works, saves, missions, videos, campaign, everything. If you dont know what all these things are you prolly dont wanna do this. But if you do or you can google it and figure it out its well worth it imho. One of my favorite games hands down. I had the software allready anyway. I bought this for the wire bound manual and the keyboard chart both of which are exquisite and arrived in premium condition, Ya the graphics could ...
