Being a Neopets fan, I decided to buy Neopets Puzzle Adventure for Nintendo DS as soon as I heard about its release. The game in its self doesn't offer much. The only thing good about it, is that once you unlock certain levels, it will give you special codes you can use on the Neopets.com site and you will be able to exhange it for virtual items, usable on site. Neopets Puzzle Adventure will give you four puzzles in all. You will be asked to create a pet and you can select the color of the pet. You will choose to play between Story Mode or Instant Action. As you play, your pet will increse it's experience and you will be able to unlock new codes. What I don't like about it, is that it's repetitive and it will get boring after a while. Once you get the hang of the main puzzle, you will solve story mode, rather fast, and there isn't much you can do after that. Also I see a lack of information anywhere on the Neopets.com site about this game, so anyone who is experiencing problems in game, has to find a way how to settle them alone. One of the codes you need to unlock, requires that you to play a game with another player who has a Nintendo DS and the Neopets Puzzle Adventure (DS). It will be impossible to unlock this code if you can't do a multiplayer game. All codes are a one time use only and even if you restart the game you won't be given new codes.Read full review
This game is fun for a few rounds, then quickly becomes repetitive. The graphics and sound are fine, you get to create your own character and the story mode lets your character talk to lots of different Neopets in lots of locations, but the games are basically the same game, over and over, with a few minor variations. I beat it in less than a day, and my granddaughter didn't even bother to complete it. If you need something for a short while to distract your child, like waiting at the dentist or the bank, this would do, but it's not one I will reach for repeatedly. May be more fun for smaller kids, I have a 12 yr old who was quickly bored with it.
Not my favorite game. Unless you like to play the same game over and over again, it gets boring after awhile. I haven't done the multi player part, because I don't have the wifi hookup, but when your playing the "computer" it ends up being the same game over and over. I end up starting the game, and I would prefer to be able to go second some times. The story is ok, more for kids. Not really an adult game. I wish Neopets would have added some of there other games in so you could get a varity but you don't.
I absolutely adore this game! I have been an avid Neopets fan since the website launched. They have released so many wonderful products for kids (and the young-at-heart). The company deserves major perks for providing activities and games that are fantasy-fun based, instead of encouraging people to look or act a certain way. Go Neopets!
Pro's: Endless, mindless fun. Cute story. Generates random codes for your Neopets account that gets you -valuable- items. Multiplayer option. Con's: If you don't like the puzzle game itself (compare to Othello), do not get this game. There is nothing to it, otherwise.
