  • A Superb Scientific Thriller.

I saw this movie originally when I was in high school back in 1971 (?). It is a very engaging scientific thriller. Although you could call it “science fiction,” it straddles a very fine line to possible fact. Though that maybe stretching it a tiny bit. Anyway, the alien discovered in a fallen satellite is microscopic and deadly. It wipes out practically an entire small town in the Southwest. A team of top scientists must find the organism before it kills others. And THEY must go through a series of decontaminations in a top secret underground installation. What will keep you glued to your seat is the discovery of this microscopic alien. And no, it doesn’t speak English or have a horn growing out of its forehead. Don’t accept remakes or substitutes. This first one is by far the ...

  • A clever sci-fi film that may well turn out not to be quite so "sci-fi" after all.

The movie is somewhat dated, (pre-CGI), but it is a riveting story relative to our current space exploration strategy. Well acted, and directed. It was Michael Crichton's "Coming out" movie.

  • Ultimate and timeless Sci-fi thriller..

Though made in 1971, could jave been made yesterday. Plays well now in our scary, politicaly weaponized climate. A very good technological procedural about the discovery and containment of a virus from the unknown. Especially poignant are the ending scenes about how the virus was to possibly be used nefariously (germ warfare was just a concept then!!) Though the technology may be dated in our Windows world, anyone can appreciate the accurate and sensitive treatment of technology and of its potential power even then. The acting, especially Kate Reid and James Olsen are compelling. The erieness and suspense are breathtaking. An awesome film. Forget the tacky remake and see the real thing...at the edge of your seat!
